Complimentary Mini Website Review

Each month I offer a small number of complimentary mini website reviews to established professionals who are stepping into something bigger. If that’s you and you have a Squarespace site you can apply below.

Your Squarespace website should be working as hard as you are

If you’re years into your work and your site still reflects an earlier version of your business, it may be holding you back. Particularly as you move towards something bigger.

A mini website review gives you a clear, considered look at one page or your site as a whole: what’s landing well, what isn’t and crucially what to focus on first.

This isn’t a long list of everything that could be improved but 1-2 things that will actually move the needle and that feel manageable to act on.

Offered in the spirit of a gift economy

The mini website review is freely given, with no obligation or follow-up pitch and no assumption that this leads anywhere other than a useful video in your inbox to help you and your business.

How it works

  1. Apply here by filling out the form. Tell me a little about your work and what you’re working towards.

  2. I review applications within a few days and let you know either way.

  3. If selected, your Loom video arrives within seven working days.

“I made changes based on Ali's feedback the same week. My site now feels more streamlined and clear because she helped me see what was working and what was getting in the way. A great service.”

– Skylar Liberty Rose, midlife support coach & meditation teacher

What I look out for

Every site is different, so I follow what I find. But for the kinds of work my clients do or stepping into – programmes, retreats, books, keynotes, signature offerings – I’m often looking at:

  •  Whether a visitor understands immediately who you are and who you help. Not just your job title but the depth and distinctiveness of your approach.

  • Whether your messaging reflects where you are now, or where you were several years ago.

  • Whether the visual presentation matches the calibre of your work, or quietly undermines it.

  • Whether the page you’re launching from – a programme page, a speaking page, a newly updated about page – is ready to do the job you need it to do.

  • Whether it’s obvious what a visitor should do next.

  • What a potential client or event organiser might hesitate over and why.

And always: the one or two things most worth your attention first.

Who this is for

This is a good fit if you’re a coach, therapist, consultant, author or speaker who is years into your work and whose website hasn’t kept pace with where you are now. Perhaps you’re launching a programme, writing a book or starting to speak at larger events. Your website needs to reflect that.

It’s not the right fit if you’re just starting out and your site is still a work in progress, or if you’re looking for a full website review or strategy session. This is a focused look at one page or section and is specific, actionable and brief.

What you get

An honest first impression backed by 20 years of Squarespace, marketing and communications experience.

Clear, focused suggestions on the one or two improvements worth prioritising.

“Managing my own website is one of the challenges of establishing and running my floristry business, and definitely an area I didn't have a lot of experience in. Ali was able to quickly summarise pros and cons of my existing site and suggest simple and effective changes that made the whole website more cohesive and enhanced the user experience. She was professional, easy to work with and took the time to understand my work. I'd highly recommend that other small businesses take the opportunity to review their website with her!”

Where design meets strategy

Before retraining as a web designer, I spent 16 years in marketing and communications at publishing companies, an industry built on positioning ideas, expertise and voices for exactly the right audience. Before that, an illustration degree. I have always worked at the intersection of creativity, strategy and communication.

Every decision – your words, your visual identity, your site structure – is considered in terms of how it communicates your signature approach, your professional maturity and the results you deliver. I work to make your brand feel unmistakably like you while speaking with precision to the people you most want to reach.
