Ian Clark is a Bristol-based photographer whose work spans cityscapes, landscapes and abstract photography. He needed a portfolio website that put his images front and centre: clean, considered and built to grow with his work over time.

Approach
The portfolio is structured into four thematic galleries: Bristol, Nature, Travel and Abstract. This gives visitors a clear way into the work and a structure that can accommodate new bodies of work as Ian's photography develops. A monochrome palette of white, grey and black ensures the images remain the focal point throughout. Antic Didone, a serif with a slightly handwritten quality, is used for headings, bringing subtle texture and personality. Commissioner is used for body text. Considered animation effects add movement and life to the site without competing with the photography.
Drawing on my background in marketing and communications, I worked with Ian on his homepage tagline and About page copy to convey his style, philosophy and approach clearly. The result is a narrative he can build on as his body of work grows.
Solution
Ian now has a cohesive, elegant portfolio that does justice to his photography and reflects his vision as an artist. The site is easy to navigate, straightforward for Ian to manage and built to stand the test of time.
